For youth hockey players finding the right sized hockey gloves is very important to allow for the player to be comfortable while learning the essential skills necessary to develop into a better ice hockey player early on in their hockey career. I have seen way too many youth hockey players wearing gloves that are quite simply much too large for their hands. Not only does this prevent the player from comfortably holding the stick and handling the hockey puck, but it puts your child at risk of minor and major injuries to their hands and wrists.

For some reason a lot of youth hockey parents who have had other children play hockey, end up passing down old hockey equipment used by the older child. For certain pieces of hockey equipment it does not matter that much if the equipment is too big, but for items like youth hockey gloves you really need to make sure that the gloves your child wears fit their hands properly so that their gloves do not fall off easily. Even youth hockey players are at risk of serious injuries to their hands and wrist if their glove falls off and although these youth hockey players might not be able to skate well at such a young age, they still have skates that are sharp and can cause injuries.

If you have a young child that plays ice hockey make sure that they are using small gloves that fit snug to their hands. With snug fitting junior hockey gloves that have a better chance of keeping their gloves on their hands when they take the frequent spills that so many young hockey players take early on in their hockey playing days. If you are worried about your child out growing their youth hockey gloves too soon, you need to consider the fact that your child’s safety is the most important thing, even if it means spending a little extra money to buy a new pair of junior hockey gloves each year, it is worth it to avoid injury and the medical bills associated with them.

If you are looking to buy some new junior ice hockey gloves that fit your child well be sure to do some research online for quality youth hockey gloves, and then visit your local pro shop and actually have your child try on several different brands and sizes of gloves to find the pair that fits them the best. Avoid buying your junior hockey gloves online because you do not want to make the mistake of buying the wrong size of hockey gloves for your child.

Are you looking to purchase some youth hockey gloves for your child? If so, there are a few things that you should know before you spend your hard earned money on this piece of hockey equipment. We all know that hockey is an expensive sport and the equipment that is required to play hockey is much of the expense that gets associated with hockey. Many parents of hockey players, are new to the sport of hockey and have never purchased any hockey gear, and so it is for this reason I have decided to write this article on what to look for in youth ice hockey gloves.

Assuming that your child is between the ages of six and twelve, and also assuming that they are new to hockey, the first thing to consider when purchasing youth hockey gloves is that you do not need to spend extra money on new hockey gloves, when you can easily find perfectly suitable and protective used youth hockey gloves. Many children’s parents always need to buy the latest and greatest piece of hockey equipment, and while this may not be the wisest decision by them, it is to your benefit, because this means that when they buy the newest youth hockey glove, they are going to want to sell or trade in their old pair which usually is not more than one or two years old, which is still relatively new in terms of hockey gloves as long as the palm of the glove is still in good shape.

The other thing you are going to want to look for when purchasing children’s ice hockey gloves is that your children’s hands are being protected sufficiently. This does not necessarily mean that the padding in the glove is super thick, because that is not really what matters most. Sure, you are going to want to have decent padding over the tops of your child’s hands, fingers and thumbs, but many parents over look the importance of having proper wrist protection. Many of the youth hockey gloves today are cut much shorter than they had been in the past, and this can be incredibly dangerous. Make sure that when you are buying gloves that they extend up past the wrist. I also would suggest purchasing wrist protectors which are available at most hockey pro shops. Too many hockey players, young and old alike have had gruesome injuries to their wrists which have important arteries and ligaments that need to be properly protected to prevent serious injuries.

While there are some other features that you or your child might prefer in junior hockey gloves, these are the two important things that I think new hockey parents need to know before spending their money on their children’s youth hockey equipment.

For years I had a hard time finding a hockey glove that I really liked. In the 80’s and even the 90’s hockey gloves were not built with nearly the quality that they are built with today. I know some people might disagree with me there, but I just feel like the ice hockey gloves of yesteryear were much less protective and they used to be much more difficult to break in due to the stiff material that was used. Today however, there are a lot of glove companies that are putting much more thought into their glove designs which allow the average hockey player to buy the gloves and not have to worry about breaking them in.

When Eagle gloves came out, I was kind of skeptical because they were a brand that I had never heard of before and I really had no idea of what to expect from these gloves. Well, the second I tried the Eagle hockey gloves on I knew I had to have a pair. They just got it right. There was absolutely no break in required which I always love, but they also came up with a great way to market their gloves. They set themselves apart from the rest of the hockey glove market because I believe they were the first glove brand to allow anybody to order custom hockey gloves with your own preferred designs and colors and you can even get your name sewn on the gloves. Now, professional hockey players are used to this, but the fact that they brought the customization feature to the average hockey player made them a major competitor in the hockey glove game.

Nowadays, some of the other glove companies have followed suit with Eagle’s ideas of really paying attention to getting the most comfortable yet protective glove design for youth hockey gloves and adults alike. But I am not sure if any of the other hockey glove companies have made it so easy to order custom hockey glove designs like Eagle did years ago. Now, I have to mention that Eagle gloves are a bit more expensive than most of their competitors gloves, but they definitely stand the test of time. These gloves will last you years and you really do not need to get them re-palmed very frequently either. If I am going to throw down some of my hard earned cash for some hockey gloves, I’d rather shell out a few extra bucks to get a pair that I know is of the highest quality and will not need to be replaced within a couple of years. Just like with the hockey helmet and most other ice hockey equipment, you might as well do a bit of research to make sure that you get the best hockey glove for your money.
