Shopping for goalie equipment can be very difficult and frustrating. Not only do you have to worry about the price of some of the most expensive protective gear in all of sports, but you also have to worry about finding quality equipment that fits, not to mention it is also important to find goalie equipment that you can be comfortable in as soon as possible. Luckily there are a few pieces of goalie equipment that should not be very difficult to shop for because, for the most part, they are consistently made from one brand to the next.

The hockey goalie blocker is one such piece of equipment. For those that are not all that familiar with goaltender equipment for hockey, the blocker is the glove that the goaltender wears on the hand that holds the goalie stick. For most goalies they wear their goalie blockers on their right hand, but there are a percentage of goaltenders that wear it on their left hand, which can throw of shooters at times.

When I played goalie in hockey I was very finicky about my goalie gear. I could not stand breaking in new pieces of equipment, and when I found something I liked I would prefer to wear it until it could not be worn anymore. The goalie blocker however, was always easy for me to switch to a new one due to the fact that there is literally zero break in time when you switch to a new blocker. The fact that it has not changed much in many years, with the exception of designs on the front, has made it so that many goalie equipment manufacturers have the same general goaltender blocker design. The palm underneath the surface area of the blocker is not something that requires getting used to or breaking in because they are literally almost all the same. You do however, want to make sure that the palm of the blocker is of a decent thickness and looks like it is made of high quality material and that it is stitched together well, this way you can prevent getting holes in the palm of your blocker.

Hockey goalie gloves for catching are much more difficult to break in, thus it can be incredibly difficult to decide which one you should purchase. With the goalie catcher you are going have to work through being uncomfortable when using a brand new glove. It can be incredibly frustrating to get past the initial stages of a very stiff catcher, luckily you do not have to deal with that when it comes to buying a new or used ice hockey goalie blocker.
