One Piece Composite Ice Hockey Sticks
Any hockey player knows that the right hockey stick is essential for each player to be able to handle, pass and shoot the puck. Every person has different things that they look for in an ice hockey stick, and once you find the perfect stick it can be very difficult to change.
Recently ice hockey sticks have evolved into finely tuned pieces of ice hockey equipment that have began to make goalies cringe and flinch when they see the puck leave the shooter’s stick. Up until a few years ago, your choices for hockey sticks were either a full wood stick, or a two piece aluminum or composite stick. Then the Easton Synergy one piece hockey stick was introduced and completely revolutionized the game. These days you will notice that the speed of the professional hockey players shot has increased and it seems as though the puck just about jumps off of the stick blade. This has made it difficult for goalies to stop the puck due to the fact that one piece hockey sticks are so prominent from the pros all the way down to youth hockey.
After a few years passed where the Easton Synergy dominated the ice hockey stick market, many of the other stick manufacturers got on board and developed their own one piece. It is a good thing too, because the one piece stick by Easton is incredibly expensive, as were many other stick manufacturer’s one pieces, but some less expensive one pieces hit the market too which allowed more people to be able to purchase their own one piece and experience it for themselves. However, every stick is not created equal, and there are many different factors that go into picking out a hockey stick that will work for you. First you will want to consider the curve of the stick blade. Do you like a big curve or a smaller curve? Also, you will want to consider the stick flex. Some people prefer a stiff stick and some prefer the exact opposite. Whatever you prefer, there should be plenty of options available to you are your local hockey shop or even online.
The one piece stick is obviously just one more expensive item in a list of expensive items to purchase in hockey, however it should be known that it is definitely not a necessity. There are actually still a few NHL hockey players that still use wood sticks because the prefer the feel of wood over the composite feel. Also, if you are new to hockey or a young child playing hockey, purchasing a one piece stick is pretty much a waste of money because you will not be able to utilize the features of the one piece that make it worthwhile. Make sure that you have the basics of shooting the puck down before you go and spend a lot of money on a one piece.
