Ice Hockey Pads Compared
Sufficient hockey pads are essential for any hockey player. Obviously ice hockey is a fast sport with a high percentage of injuries compared to most sports. Even if you do not play hockey in a check hockey league you need to make sure that your are well protected. There are so many ways hockey players get injured so even though you might think you want to just go out and purchase the cheapest ice hockey pad possible, more often than not this is not a good decision.
Ice hockey equipment brands build their products in tiers, there are usually several tiers for each piece of equipment and each one is priced according to the quality of which the product was built. For example, with hockey gloves, Bauer might have 3 or 4 different pairs of gloves in a particular size, and if you cannot afford anything else, you can purchase the cheapest pair, but you should be aware of the fact that the cheap pair will often not last you as long because the palm might not be of a high quality and might get holes really quickly. Taking a look and comparing the cheap pair of gloves with one of the more expensive pairs of gloves, you can immediately see that you will be better protected and the quality of craftsmanship on the higher tier glove is superior to the cheap glove. In the long run you might actually end up spending the same amount of money on gloves because you would need to replace or repair the cheap glove several times before you would ever have any problems with the more expensive higher quality glove. This applies to almost any product for hockey pads as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I do realize that hockey is a very expensive sport, and sometimes you just can not afford to purchase the top of the line product for any piece of hockey gear, and usually the less expensive brand will provide sufficient protection as long as you are not playing at an extremely high level of hockey. So if you can’t afford the top of the line gear, you can do a bit of research online to read some reviews about a product which you are thinking of purchasing and if there aren’t any negative reviews of the piece of equipment than you might as well give it a shot and buy it because having any equipment is better than having no equipment.
