Ice Hockey Goalie Equipment

If you are a hockey goalie, you know that ice hockey goalie equipment can be ridiculously expensive. Though goalie pads are expensive, they are obviously worth the money that you are required to spend on it because if you want to play goalie, you have to make sure that you are well protected. Cheap goalie equipment is okay if you play a lower level of hockey, but once you start playing bantam, midget or adult league hockey, slap shots enter the picture and if your opponents can shoot hard, you obviously will want to make sure that your hockey goalie pads are going to be effective at protecting your body and head.

Most goalie equipment manufacturers have fine tuned their pads to make sure that they are of a high quality, so you should not have to worry too much about your’s or your kid’s protection. As long as you aren’t buying equipment that is super old and beat up, and you purchase pads that fit you properly you should be able to take all of the slap shots you want without feeling very much. Sure occasionally you might catch a stinger to the palm of your glove hand, but for the most part you won’t feel anything. But when you start purchasing goalie gear that is too small, you start opening yourself up to exposed areas of your body that are susceptible to being bruised by the puck. Likewise, if you purchase ice hockey goalie equipment that is too large, it might start to get sloppy and slide out of position exposing your bare skin to slap shots.

If you do not know much about goalie equipment, visit your local hockey pro shop so that you can get some advice on how to purchase the gear that you know will fit you and protect you. Having the proper hockey goalie gear is essential because if you start taking heavy shots that hurt you, you will no longer be able to face shots without flinching, and as anybody who plays hockey knows…a flinching goalie is a bad goalie. Do the proper research and invest in the proper hockey goalie pads that you know are going to fit you and allow you to play without fear.
