Hockey Glove Repalming

Keeping your hockey glove in good condition can be difficult. Often times when you play hockey very frequently, it can be difficult to keep your hockey gloves from building up common wear and tear. However, there are some things that you can do to keep your preferred hockey glove from having to be repaired or replaced by a new ice hockey glove. When many youth hockey players hit a certain level of hockey, like high school or junior hockey, they see their ice time increase dramatically due to the requirement to practice almost every day that they do not have games. Although some teams might provide ice hockey gloves for you, if they don’t, it is important that you keep your gloves in good condition.

The palm of the ice hockey glove is the part of the glove that usually wears down the quickest. Having holes in the palms of your glove can be incredibly annoying as well as unsafe. One thing that you can do to prevent re-palming of your hockey gloves is properly air them out after each skate. Do not just leave your sweaty gloves in your bag when they are wet because the palm will be more susceptible to getting holes in them, not to mention the fact that your gloves will surely stink if you do not air them out after you are done playing.

Another thing that you can do in order to keep your palm in good shape is to have a decent amount of tape on the knob of your stick. Most of the time when my hockey glove palms tear it is on my top hand of my stick. I think the reason why is because holding the top of the stick has edges that can cause your palm to get destroyed. If you do not put enough tape on the knob of your ice hockey sticks, you will definitely start to see holes starting to pop up on the palms of your gloves.

No matter what, your hockey gloves are going to see some typical wear and tear that will lead to you having to get them repaired or replaced somewhere down the line. However, if you do a few things to take care of your gloves, you will see that you will be able to make your pair of gloves last much longer into the future because you took the necessary steps to prevent quickly damaging your gloves.
